John Gardner Chapter: September 2008 Meeting Minutes
The John Gardner Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association.
Minutes for the September, 2008 membership meeting of the
John Gardner Chapter of the TSCA.
President Behney in Avery Point Boathouse called the meeting
to order at 1:45pm. In attendance were Rob Pittaway, Chauncy
Rucker, Russell Smith, Treas., George Spragg, Phil Behney,
Pres., Bill Armitage, John Hacunda,, Carol Mauro, John Maxon,
and John Symons, Sec.,
Secretary’s Report
Report accepted as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report
Expenses $262.56 for cordless drills and supplies leaving
a balance of $3444.96. Report accepted as presented by Treas.
Smith.
Old Business:
Boat Building
Kudos were given to JGTSCA participation, led by Larry Magee
and George Spragg in helping the SSS 584 Sea Scouts complete
their 19’ Banks Dory and to John Hacunda for his outstanding
job reporting the project on our website.
The computer files for the JGTSCA brochure, developed by
Cameron Taylor, will be updated and printed by Carol Mauro.
The dory “Jane” is at the boat house and will
be modified for two rowing stations. The other Avery Point
dories will be modified in turn.
Bronze oarlocks can be procured thru Kellogg Marine Supplies
for $18. Russell Smith will order them.
Chauncy Rucker thanked all who participated at Wooden Boat
Show TSCA booth that will be held again next year at the Mystic
Seaport. Discussion followed about our relationship with the
TSCA and the loss of the John Gardner Small Craft Workshop.
No follow up has been received from the Mystic Seaport regarding
the meeting held by the Seaport the first day of the show.
Chauncy announced that Dan Drath is resigning as editor for
the Ash Breeze and invited ideas for his replacement.
New Business:
The Project O., Ledge Light tour is open for more who would
like to go. The tour is scheduled for 3:30P.M.; September
20, 2008 at the Project O. boat at Avery Pt.
Nominations for 2009 officers will be made at the October
meeting. The offices open are president because John Maxon
due to personal commitments, vice president, treasurer and
secretary. Bill Armitage reviewed procedure that the nominations
are closed in November, elections held in December and officers
assume office January 2009.

Boathouse Project
Bill Armitage has completed the hulls on his two Solo Guide
Boats and proceeding with completing the interiors.
John Hacunda has a boat that he has started at home but
needs help with applying the lap strake exterior.
Proposed to finish the Kevlar covering of a hull frame donated
to the club.

the boathouse neat and clean.
